Grant Activity:
Developing and Applying Statistical Genetics Methods to Elucidate the Developmental Origins of Health and Disease
Purpose:
Low birthweight babies are at higher risk of cardiometabolic disease in later life. The Developmental Origins of Health And Disease hypothesis (DOHaD) posits that adverse maternal intrauterine environments result in fetal growth restriction and increased risk of disease through developmental compensation. The aim of this application is to develop statistical genetics methods to estimate the causal effect of maternal factors on offspring disease and use these methods to test the DOHaD hypothesis.
