Grant Activity:
Tracking the development and progression of chronic kidney disease using non-invasive imaging
Purpose:
Damage and loss of kidney filters are hallmarks of most forms of kidney disease. Until now kidney filters could only be viewed in tissue obtained at biopsy or autopsy. In 2017, we imaged and quantified these filters in living animals (rodents) for the first time. We will use our non-invasive imaging technologies to study kidney disease in living rodents and extend our technology to living sheep, an important step towards translation of this landmark technology to humans.
