Neurodegeneration in Spinocerebellar Ataxias: Biomarkers, Mechanisms, and Variability
Purpose:
Spinocerebellar ataxias (SCAs) are progressive and fatal neurodegenerative disorders for which there are currently no available treatments. This project will use magnetic resonance imaging and positron emission tomography to expand on our knowledge of the brain changes that underlie these disorders. This knowledge will be critical to understanding how to best measure disease progression and treatment effects, and how brain changes may be distinct between different individuals with SCA.
