Novel multifunctional analgesic sodium channel inhibitors
Purpose:
This project is a unique opportunity to develop of a novel class of drugs to treat unattainable chronic visceral pain, and consequently improve health of 15 percent of Australians suffering from this condition. By applying our state-of-art research expertise, we will obtain potent, selective and stable peptides inhibitors of sodium channels that show improved efficacy in pre-clinical models of pain including chronic visceral pain.
