Grant Activity:
Innate Immune Surveillance of Cancer Metastasis by Natural Cytotoxicity Receptor 1
Purpose:
White blood cells such as natural killer (NK) cells constantly monitor our tissues for changes associated with transformation and cancer development. We have identified a key receptor on NK cells and its ligand on tumour cells which is responsible for the clearance of circulating breast cancer cells. The biology of this interaction and therapeutic potential of drugging it will be explored.
