Grant Activity:
Fine tuning metabolic flux: Modulating substrate oxidation as a therapeutic strategy in motor neuron disease (MND)
Purpose:
For reasons that are not fully understood, changes in the way that the body or cell uses energy can lead to faster disease progression and earlier death in people living with motor neuron disease (MND). We now have exciting data to show that a drug used to treat heart failure in humans can slow disease in a mouse model of MND. In this project, we will investigate the ability to repurpose this drug for use in MND, with the view to generate data that will support Phase 1 or 2 trials for MND.
