Evaluation of a community-led nutrition and lifestyle program for weight loss and metabolic health: a randomised controlled trial.
Purpose:
Current approaches to improve nutritional health in Indigenous communities have had limited success. With Yolngu Elders in NE Arnhem Land, we have co-designed a learning program that embeds concepts about healthy nutrition and lifestyle with traditional knowledge and connection to land, family, and community. This research will assess the impact of the program on weight loss and health, with potential to empower individuals and families to improve health and prevent obesity and related diseases.
