Purpose:
The five projects will (i) investigate the range limitations, and use of different habitat types to determine where alpine she-oak skinks persist after fires providing an improved understanding of the species habitat and connectivity across the landscape; (ii) investigate the population genetic structure and diversity of gang-gang cockatoos - providing new knowledge about the genetic health of the contemporary population and information about the number and location of different genetic conservation units of the gang-gang cockatoo; (iii) deliver a clean set of gang-gang cockatoo occurrence records and model the data to identify areas for future targeted conservation activities - providing a complete and accurate national database of gang-gang cockatoo occurrence data; (iv) determine whether nest boxes are an effective mitigation strategy to support greater glider populations after fire; and (v) test targeted revegetation strategies to restore nutritional landscapes for greater gliders and increase biodiversity more broadly informing future implementation across larger areas using the same prescription developed during the pilot-study stage.
