Purpose:
We plan to have 27 solar panels professionally installed; 20 on the north facing roof of the rear hall and 7 on the north western ridge of the chapel. The placement of the panels is based on a year round assessment of sun exposure on the site. The panels are projected to generate on average 31kw of power which is around the minimum that we currently draw from grid each day. The result will be a significant reduction in our energy costs, in line with one of the objectives of the grant program. In the process our electricity provider or a licensed will need to upgrade our power meter board because it can not accommodate a smart meter and contains asbestos; this equipment upgrade is a necessary part of the project to reduce energy consumption and deliver carbon abatement.
