The program provides a professional development opportunity for business advisers that integrates mental health first aid training with a relationship–centred, business mentoring approach to supporting the business and mental health–related needs of small business (SME) owners. It will equip advisers with the ability to deal with heightened distress in SME owners and enhance skills in identifying/understanding SME owners' business needs/stressors when delivering business advice. The program will also ensure longer–term knowledge transfer and training viability within the profession/industry. Delivering the program on the scale proposed, and undertaking detailed evaluation, will produce learnings that can be applied to other sectors.
