Grant Activity:
Aldosterone bloCkade for Health Improvement EValuation in End-stage renal disease (ACHIEVE) study
Purpose:

The ACHIEVE Study aims to improve the poor outcomes of patients with kidney failure, which are mostly driven by heart disease. It will study an existing drug, spironolactone, that is proven to benefit patients with heart failure. Spironolactone is rarely used in kidney failure as few studies have tested it, and there are concerns about its side effects in this patient group. This large, international study will provide reliable evidence as to whether this promising treatment works.
