Grant Activity:
The Candesartan Adjunctive bipolar DEpression Trial - CADET
Purpose:

This project aims to define a novel treatment for bipolar depression - the major unmet need in the disorder - by targeting angiotensin, a key modulator of the stress response and immune systems. We have compelling preclinical, epidemiological and clinical data supporting the potential value of angiotensin medications in improving mood. We propose to conduct the first double-blind, placebo-controlled trial of candesartan, an angiotensin receptor blocker, to treat bipolar depression.
