Grant Activity:
Evaluating the effectiveness and safety of sodium selenate as a disease modifying treatment for patients with behavioural variant Frontotemporal Dementia (bvFTD)
Purpose:

Behavioural variant Frontotemporal Dementia (bvFTD) affects younger people aged 45-65 years old. Personality changes and memory loss can be distressing to both patients and family. There is no cure and no approved disease modifying therapies currently available. This clinical trial will test the effectiveness of sodium selenate as a new treatment to reduce the progression of bvFTD in patients and potentially reduce economic costs, e.g. a reduction in healthcare use, residential and formal care.
