Grant Program:
2019 Priority-driven Collaborative Cancer Research Scheme
Grant Activity:
Enhanced polyamine depletion as a novel therapy for aggressive childhood cancers
Purpose:
The investigators have demonstrated a critical dependence of aggressive childhood neuroblastoma on small molecules known as polyamines, and shown, in preclinical models, that combined inhibition of polyamine synthesis and uptake enhances therapeutic response. They have also identified a key neuroblastoma polyamine transport gene. This project will further characterise genes involved in polyamine uptake, develop predictive biomarkers of response to polyamine inhibition, and optimise polyamine depletion therapy for aggressive child cancers.
