Grant Program:
2019 Priority-driven Collaborative Cancer Research Scheme
Grant Activity:
Life and Health After Childhood Cancer: a national data linkage cohort study
Purpose:

Around 85% of children survive their childhood cancer. But, survivors have higher risk of early death, a second cancer, and other long-term health conditions. This is due to effects of their cancer treatment. Follow-up care is vital, but more than half do not receive this. This Australia-wide study will identify the risk of long-term health conditions, and how cancer treatment and healthcare use afterwards may affect these. These results will be used to develop a patient tool that will inform survivors of health conditions to expect and the type and timing of healthcare they need.
