Purpose:
SAGE responds to the Australian Higher Education and Research (HER) sectors need for a coordinated, national approach to improving gender equity and diversity in STEMM. Its activities are centred on three integral elements. The program accredits and grants awards to HER institutions for gender equity, diversity and inclusion programs under the Athena SWAN Charter. It also provides capacity building activities and resources to support improving gender equity, diversity and inclusion in STEMM in the Australian HER sector. The program also collaborates with like–minded organisations to promote and support initiatives that encourage women, gender diverse people and people from diverse backgrounds to participate in STEMM to address systemic barriers to equity.
