SeMA with Artspace presents an exhibition of contemporary Australian art
Seoul Museum of Art (South Korea) in close collaboration with Artspace (Australia) will present a large-scale survey exhibition of Australian contemporary art at SeMA between December 2021 and February 2022 with support from the Australian Embassy in the Republic of Korea as part of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Australia and the Republic of Korea. The exhibition will highlight artists and collectives from across Australia, including First Nations and culturally-and-linguistically-diverse artists, with an indicative list; Buku-Larrnggay Mulka Centre, Club Ate, Dale Harding, Taloi Havini, Alex Martinis Roe, Richard Bell, Yhonnie Scarce, Unbound Collective. In-depth presentations, including several new commissions, will exemplify Australia’s diverse creative landscape and engage with vital aspects of contemporary culture. It will reveal parallel trajectories, crossovers and contradictions resonant between both countries, stimulating new and sustained regional conversations. An exhibition of this scale and ambition will be the first of its kind in Korea.
