Establishment of novel, neuronal-cell based, therapeutic screens for Alzheimer’s disease using patients stem cells
Purpose:
Alzheimer’s disease is the most common cause of dementia and a major cause of death in Australia. There is no effective treatment for this disease and there is an urgent need to develop treatments to target the cause of the Alzheimer’s disease. This project aims to use human neurons derived from patient’s stem cells to establish a powerful screening platform for the identification of targeted therapeutic drugs to rescue neuron defects to efficiently treat Alzheimer’s disease.
