Purpose:
MAGNT has an ongoing active repatriation program returning ancestral remains and secret sacred objects to traditional owners. MAGNT’s Indigenous Research Officer will be based in Alice Springs, working with the extensive documentation of the Strehlow Collection, MAGNT records and consulting with traditional owners to continue repatriating the ancestral remains and secret sacred objects that are currently held by the MAGNT in Darwin and Alice Springs. The IRP grant will support the employment of an Indigenous Research Officer to lead and facilitate this work. Activities undertaken include, but are not limited to identification, community consultation, field trips, and repatriation.
