Bushfire Recovery for Species and Landscapes
Grant Activity:
Sustaining the Tweed's flying–fox forests
Purpose:
Ecological restoration of up to six hectares of degraded high conservation value grey–headed flying–fox foraging habitat on six private properties will help ensure that flying–fox habitat in the Tweed is sustained in the long term.
The project will contribute to the rehabilitation of critically endangered Lowland Rainforest Endangered Ecological Community (EEC) and mitigate weed threats to several other threatened plant and animal species.
Proposed restoration activities directly support the objectives of the draft Tweed Conservation Strategy, the National Recovery Plan for the Grey–headed Flying–fox (2021) and the Tweed Flying–fox Camp Management Plan (2018).
