Grant Activity:
IMPROVING OUTCOMES OF PATIENTS WITH POSTERIOR CIRCULATION ISCHEMIC STROKE
Purpose:
One in five ischemic strokes affects the posterior circulation. Basilar artery occlusion is a rare but devastating (80-90% disability and mortality) type of stroke caused by a blockage in the basilar artery, a blood vessel in the back of the brain. The optimal treatment for this devastating and under-researched disease has not yet been identified. This research program aims to deliver improved outcomes in these patients through practice changing clinical care research in the hyperacute setting.
