Grant Activity:
Unravelling tumour plasticity via parallels with tissue regeneration
Purpose:
Development of resistance to chemotherapy is a major challenge in the treatment of bowel cancer. We are exploring whether a new cell type that is produced when the lining of the gut is injured, is also produced as bowel cancers acquire drug resistance. We will characterise these cells and examine if approaches directed at targeting these cells are capable of eliminating bowel cancers. This work could provide a rational basis for the design of new combination treatments for bowel cancer.
