Purpose:
Reefs are in trouble and again coral bleaching is lurking around the corner. In 2016–17, the GBR lost 50% coral cover and what will happen next? Many people aren't aware of the magnitude of this problem and that they can help save reefs from home. CoralWatch, a global citizen science program, will engage with communities near the QLD coast presenting the latest reef science, creating reef awareness and provide suggestions on how to help using Virtual Reality technology with up–to–date content and games, public displays and field science activities. New VR content will provide a real–life reef experience connecting participants with the reef and motivate them to move towards a more sustainable future to help save reefs for future generations.
