Grant Activity:
Exploiting breast stem cell research discoveries for transfer to the clinic
Purpose:
Our group discovered breast stem cells and their ‘daughter’ progenitor cells. This has provided a blueprint for defining molecular and cellular regulators of breast development, as well as events that go awry that lead to breast cancer. Based on these findings we will advance our efforts to prevent breast cancer in women with a faulty BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene. We will also progress preclinical studies and conduct clinical trials to take a new class of drug to the clinic for women with breast cancer.
