Grant Activity:
Leveraging naturally acquired immune responses to malaria to advance control and elimination of this disease
Purpose:

Malaria is an infectious disease that still affects millions of people worldwide, including in the Asia-Pacific region. There are currently no tools to identify individuals with hidden liver-stage parasites, known as hypnozoites. This is hindering our efforts to eliminate malaria. My research will uncover how immune responses to malaria are acquired and maintained. I will leverage this knowledge to develop the first surveillance tool that can identify people with hypnozoites.
