Accelerating treatment for epilepsy in children with KIF1A-associated neurological disorders.
Purpose:
Epilepsies are life threatening, where approximately 40% patients do not respond to current medications. Mutations in the KIF1A gene lead to a devastating form of epilepsy where patients die within first 5 years of life. We will use extremely innovative and physiologically relevant models such as stem cells and bioinformatic algorithms to identify novel therapies for KIF1A-related epilepsies.
