Global analysis of metabolic targets in Leishmania parasites
Purpose:
There is an urgent need to develop new drugs to treat human leishmaniasis, a disease that causes debilitating and life-threatening diseases in millions of people worldwide. This project will systematically investigate the function of all metabolic enzymes in Leishmania pathogens using newly developed genetic and analytical tools. The findings of this study will be used to triage Leishmania metabolic enzymes for drug development, with the view of generating more effective anti-parasitics.
