Grant Program:
Medical Research Future Fund
Grant Activity:
Improved labelling of ready-made infant & toddler foods to empower healthier parental choices: a scalable policy intervention.
Purpose:
Early nutrition is vital to lifelong health. Many readymade commercial infant/toddler foods contain unhealthy added sugars. Placing 'added sugar' warning labels on such foods and restricting on-pack marketing claims could help parents to identify and access healthier options for their infants/toddlers. This project will test the efficacy of these interventions through research with parents. Should they prove effective, they could be made mandatory, achieving national reach and widespread impact.
