Purpose:
This project will help improve energy efficiency through increased use of solar energy and therefore a reduction in energy supplied by the state grid. Reducing carbon abatement is a considerable focus for Mernda Community House, as highlighted in programs such as the Repair Caf. The Repair Caf for example aims to reduce material sent to landfill and encourages a range of sustainable practices. The use of solar panels and battery at the same site where many community members will connect and learn together will help generate further discussion about sustainability and energy efficient practices in the wider community.
