Kangaroo Island priority invertebrates: post-fire assessment and...
This project will assess the impact of the Kangaroo Island bushfires on 13 priority listed invertebrate species. Detailed on-ground surveys and the synthesis of all known distributional records will be used to collate accurate, up-to-date information on fire impacts, species distributions and evidence of extinctions or decline. Risk assessments will be conducted for each species to identify threats to populations and develop recovery recommendations. The project will work closely with local environmental groups and the state government, findings will be disseminated to collaborators, the scientific community and the broader public to increase their capacity to monitor and manage threats to the recovery of priority species and populations.
