Kroombit Tinkerfrog Conservation Breeding Program (ERF-WRR2-006)
Maintain and expand an existing Kroombit Tinkerfrog Conservation Breeding Program to provide for increased breeding and ultimately for a greater number of releases to the wild, including:
- refurbishing and expanding existing facilities
- staffing (improved husbandry/care through improved procedures/protocols)
- genetic testing/sequencing
- monitoring and preparation at potential release sites
- capacity building for Bundaberg and Rockhampton Zoos
- developing a formal plan for reintroductions to the wild; and
- public awareness program highlighting conservation efforts.
Expected outcomes by project completion include:
- newly bred young to bolster the captive poplation ahead of a future release
- improved methods of management, and
- a formal plan for reintroduction to the wild.
