NHMRC 20/21 1.1 Health and Medical Research
Grant Program:
Investigator Grants
Grant Activity:
Using translational neuroscience to optimise treatment for older adults with anxiety disorders
Purpose:
The best way to treat anxiety disorders in older adults remains a critical question. Despite significant advances in our understanding of how we can most effectively reduce fears in younger adults based on experimental neuroscience research, this has not been extended to older adults where age-related changes in cognition may alter the efficacy. This research program will bridge this gap to examine whether treatment for late-life anxiety can be improved by targeting the underlying mechanisms.
