Grant Activity:
A deadly duo: Defining the link between Obstructive Sleep Apnoea and Cardiovascular Disease
Purpose:
Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA) is a very common breathing disorder during sleep that causes low oxygen levels and disturbed sleep. This causes individuals to feel tired, increasing the risk of injury and reducing quality of life. OSA directly affects the heart and increases the risk of high blood pressure, heart attack, heart rhythm disorders, and stroke. This project aims to better understand this connection and to determine whether effective treatment of OSA improves heart health.
