Sustaining Australia-China Trade through Digital Translation Innovation...
The signing of the China-Australia Free Trade Agreement (ChAFTA) in 2015 marked a new era in Australia-China diplomatic, trade and business relation. ChAFTA encompasses large amounts of original English and Chinese import/export regulatory materials such as tariff classification and rules of origin. Navigating through the new set of complex bilateral trade regulations of the ChAFTA poses a significant challenge to Australian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) which could benefit most from the ChAFTA.
This project aims to provide a practical solution to the pressing issue of the accessibility of ChAFTA materials for Australian SMEs. This highly innovative and strategic project will design and implement an interactive bilingual document information search system, which contains and facilitates the search for high-quality bidirectional Chinese-English translations of import/export regulations by trade authorities in both countries to provide much-needed practical aids for Australian SMEs to reap the benefits of this monumental trade agreement.
