Grant Activity:
Medulloblastoma plasticity, persistence, relapse and resistance
Purpose:
Childhood cancer is devastating. For young children with medulloblastoma the outlook is bleak and if the cancer comes back after treatment it is lethal. We will identify cancer cells that survive treatment with a new drug, Palbociclib, and show how they lead to relapse. We will find out if the presence of these cells predicts relapse in patients, and develop a map of how cells develop tolerance to the drug that will help us to identify ways we might target these cells to prevent relapse.
