The Commute is a platform for Indigenous art from across the Pacific Ocean (Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and the United States) that culminates in high-profile exhibitions, public programs, and a publication at IMA (Brisbane) and Vancouver Art Gallery.
Purpose:
This project will provide an international platform for Indigenous art exchange from across the Pacific Ocean (Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and the United States) culminating in two high-profile exhibitions, series of public programs, and a publication. Five emerging Indigenous arts leaders from each of these countries will lead the project which celebrates the diversity of contemporary Indigenous culture from across the region. It will be presented at IMA during the 2018 Asia Pacific Triennial in Brisbane and be further developed for the Vancouver Art Gallery in 2019.
