Grant Activity:
Clinical outcomes in older people of continuing or deprescribing medicines that caused a hospital admission
Purpose:
Safe medicines use is a major health issue for older people. Medicine related harm is a significant factor for older people that leads to hospital admissions even if the medicine is prescribed for a valid evidence based reason. It remains unclear if a severe adverse drug effect that leads to a hospital admission should mean a medicine is stopped or continued. This research will use big data to examine the clinical effects of continuing and withdrawing medicines in older people.
