Grant Activity:
Molecular mechanisms of inflammasome activation
Purpose:
Infectious diseases are a leading cause of deaths in Australia. Disease-fighting proteins generated from a cell can trigger the killing of invading microorganisms, such as bacteria and viruses. In this CDF1 application, I will explore the possibility of harnessing the activity of these killer proteins to enhance immunity to deadly bacterial infections. Understanding how these anti-microbial proteins work could reveal new ways to fight infectious diseases.
