Grant Program:
Early Career Fellowships
Grant Activity:
Investigating the genetic contribution to the focal epilepsies
Purpose:

Focal epilepsies are the most common forms of epilepsy. In most people with these epilepsies, no cause for the seizures can be identified with routine investigations. This study will evaluate how many of these people in fact have a type of epilepsy which runs in families, and how many have genes causing their epilepsy. Finding a genetic cause for a person’s epilepsy is important for selecting the most appropriate treatment, and can also lead to development of novel personalised therapies.
