Grant Program:
Visions of Australia
Grant Activity:
Dancing in Fetters: the culture of convict dance
Purpose:

Based on the lengthy experience of Dr Heather in colonial music and dance and her subsequent PhD on this rare topic, the Dancing in Fetters exhibition was commissioned by Joan Kelly while Network Coordinator-Museums for Moreton Bay Regional Council (MBRC). As attached Letters of Support from MBRC and Fiona Starr of Hyde Park Barracks state, the exhibition, together with a wide range of related colonial specific public programs, was highly engaging and successful. After approaching MBRC to tour Dancing in Fetters, Heather received their verbal, if not practical, support and asked Joan (ex-council) to help her tour the exhibition.
