New insights into AF mechanisms and treatment
Purpose:

Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common rhythm disturbance of the heart and approximately 25 percent of adults over 40 will be diagnosed with it in their lifetime. AF is a strong risk factor for heart failure stroke and increased mortality. The objective of the proposed research is to further our understanding into the mechanisms responsible for AF, enhance the management of this condition and provide new approaches for translation of these findings to the routine treatment and prevention of AF.
