Early Career Fellowships
Grant Activity:
Misdiagnosed as ageing: medicine-induced deterioration in older people
Purpose:

Many medicines have “minor side effects” which are difficult to detect. When the “minor side effects” gradually accumulate over time, they are often misdiagnosed as changes due to aging instead of avoidable side effects. My research aims to use digital tools to detect the minor side effects and to test a novel pharmacist service to prevent them. Detecting and preventing the minor side effects from the outset has the potential to avoid subsequent adverse events such as falls and hospitalisations.
