Grant Activity:
A novel therapeutic target for obesity: Salt-inducible kinase 3 (SIK3)
Purpose:
The overconsumption of high calorie foods together with sedentary lifestyle are key reasons for the obesity epidemic. The brain plays an important role in controlling the amount of energy intake and expenditure. However, how the brain controls these physiological processes remain poorly understood. In this proposal, we aim to study a new molecule in the brain to control appetite and body weight and establish this molecule as a potential new therapeutic target for the treatment of obesity.
