Voices from Australian Families of Unsung Heroes in the Korean-War
This project will produce a video graphic, 20 minutes in duration. The video will feature voices from Australian veterans and their families discussing the Korean War and its implications for contemporary Australian-Korea relations. The project team will undertake the following works: 1) collection of historical stories and documents via interviews with Australian veterans who served in the Korean War from 1950-1953 and their families; 2) production of a video of approximately 20 minutes in duration; 3) presentation of the aforementioned video at events in Australia and Korea, with support from the Association of Queensland Korea Veterans Incorporated, Korean Society of Gold Coast, and Korean Education Centre at the Consulate General of Korea in Sydney; 4) television broadcasting of the production twice on Australian Community Channel C31 ‘Australia Korean TV’ (broadcast from Melbourne); 5) showing the video graphic on BeNa TV, an influential Youtube channel in Korea; and 6) hosting a webinar titled ‘Australian Veterans from the Korean War and Their Families.', in conjunction with the Korean Studies Centre at the University of Queensland.
