MACHINE LEARNING OF RANDOMISED CONTROLLED TRIALS: A major emerging opportunity to advance precision oncology
Purpose:
Individual patients can gain very different benefit from the same treatment. Immunotherapy for cancer is an important example of this - some patients have dramatic improvement in survival, whereas many others gain little or no benefit. Currently it is not possible to predict in advance who will benefit and who will not. We will evaluate of a new approach based on machine learning analysis of clinical trials to better distinguish patients who are unlikely to benefit from those who will benefit.
