Grant Program:
Powering Communities
Grant Activity:
Upgrade of split system air conditioning at South Oakleigh Bowling Club.
Purpose:
The replacement of our existing Split system heating and cooling (installed 2006) with a modern far more efficient energy saving system. The proposed new system is a 4 x Fujitsu 8.5kW ASTG30KMTC reverse cycle split system air conditioner. We have been quoted $16,900, to purchase and install. The units quoted are considerably more efficient than the old 8kW units installed at the premises, both in terms of raw efficiency and in terms of their far better low power mode. The other major improvement is the refrigerant gas used in the Fujitsu units quoted, which is a much newer/more efficient form of refrigerant gas that also has 1/3rd the global warming potential compared to what is used in the old units. Depending on usage our saving will be anywhere from 8–25% overall in terms of heating/cooling the same area as the existing units, with the benefit of also having a better higher power mode (to cool/heat the space more quickly). Our aim is to provide the best environment possible for all users of our clubhouse and the installation of an efficient heating and cooling system will make a significant difference. The Project work will be undertaken by EZY Air Conditioning and Heating Pty Ltd a reputable local company. The company does not outsource their work and staff are well trained and certified. Ezy Air has an established and documented Covid Plan. (Please see Project Plan). City of Monash will oversee the project and will liaise with an onsite manager appointed by the SOBC Board of Management. There will be a lead time of 1 month and we are planning to commence the project on 1/12/2021 and expect it to be completed by 3/12/2021. However, we have allowed 6 months for completion to compensate for the unpredictability of Covid. The Project will be completed within budget and and by the Program deadline of 30/06/2022.
