Purpose:
Over the past 2 years we have been implementing an upgrade program to The Gums Hall. Over this time we have upgraded the kitchen, replaced some stumps, installed new floor coverings in the bar area and toilet areas and replaced the roof (which had been damaged by hail). The next step in our plan is to install solar panels with a view to reducing our electricity costs which are currently averaging over $1000/quarter. We are also planning for an internal re–paint of the hall by the end of the year which will be undertaken by volunteer club members.
Once funds are approved we will engage a qualified and experienced contractor to install solar panels and undertake electrical/switchboard upgrades as per regulations and quotation.
The project will be managed by our club president and treasurer, both of whom have previous experience in managing infrastructure upgrades and projects. We will also be seeking the advice of another experienced club member who managed the installation of solar panels throughout the region for Western Downs Regional Council.
