Safer anaesthesia for children - optimizing perioperative outcomes by advancing and translating knowledge into clinical practice using an international, interdisciplinary approach
Purpose:
One in 20 children in Australia undergoes surgery each year. Children are particularly at risk of breathing problems during and after anaesthesia. I am investigating methods to predict, prevent and treat these problems. I am investigating ways to minimise the effects of anaesthesia on the developing brains of babies and improving the clinical tools available to paediatric anaesthetists. My goal is to ensure that when a child needs a vital operation, it is as safe and pain-free as possible.
