Solar Panels to Power Community
Purpose:
Solar panels will be installed at Henley Green as per guidelines by a registered installer. Solar panels will power our operations at Henley Green in the community garden, as well as outreach to the broader community via education to educational institutions in our local area, in particular our neighbour, Riverside Preschool. The solar panels will ensure Henley Green Community Garden's long term viability, and prove our commitment to the environment and be self–sustainable. We will also purchase a small battery to replace one that has long since expired on our recycled hydroponics system, which produces herbs and other small edible plants. This will also use solar energy for power and be a great learning tool for our young friends as they watch it in action. An induction cooker built for the outdoors will also be purchased and used in workshops, that we are proposing to run next year on cooking from our edible garden. We will green the area around the solar panels with appropriate plants.
