Grant Activity:
Macrophage Therapeutic Potential in Paediatric Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease
Purpose:
Macrophages are cells of the innate immune system present in every tissue. Recently we showed that increasing the number of macrophages using macrophage growth factor leads to reduced body fat and blood sugar and increased body lean mass. In liver, increasing macrophages promotes liver growth and improves inflammation and tissue injury. In this project we aim to investigate the potential use of macrophage growth factor as a novel treatment in children with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.
